Baby Storytime
Babies and their grown-ups are invited to join us for rhymes, songs, movement and fun. Baby storytime ends with bonding time to connect and explore through play.
Family Storytime
Foster a love of reading, spark imagination, & build early literacy skills through stories, songs and rhymes for the whole family.
Preschool Storytime
Join us for fun preschool storytimes which will help prepare your child for Kindergarten.
Toddler Storytime
Toddlers and their favorite grown-ups are invited to join us for 30 minutes of stories, songs, fingerplays and movement.
Cuentos Contigo / Stories with You
Join us for Cuentos Contigo / Stories with You, a Spanish English bilingual family storytime! This program is designed for children and their caregivers to engage in a fun and interactive environment together.
¡Acompáñenos en Cuentos Contigo / Stories with You, una hora de cuentos bilingüe en español e inglés para toda la familia! Este programa está diseñado para que niños y niñas, junto con sus cuidadores, participen en un entorno divertido e interactivo.
Mini STEAMers
This program invites 3-5-year-olds and their caregivers to explore the exciting world of STEAM—Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics. *Spots and supplies are limited!*
Budding Builders
Tackle a building challenge or unleash your creativity with blocks, LEGO®, and more!Learning Through Play
Family Computers
Our family computers are available for kids, ages 0-18, in need of a space to work on homework, explore the internet, or play games. A library card is required and can be applied for at the Youth Desk.
AWE Early Learning Computers
Loaded with fun and educational games, the AWE computer content is correlated to academic standards and ideal for a variety of learning styles. The AWE computers were created specifically for kids ages 2-8 and include a touchscreen and oversized keyboard.
Learning Kits & Board Games
Learning Kits are are available for in-library check-out. Learning Kits include toys and activities that encourage the development of brain architecture, which provide the foundation for future learning. Fun and educational Board Games are also available for in-library check-out.
Learning Lab
The Learning Lab offers a space for homeschooling and other teaching and learning activities. Reservations can be made at the Youth Desk.
Play Areas
The "Pueblo Playhouse", the Puppet Theater corner and, Board Book area are all great spaces that encourage imaginative playtime for children.
Scavenger Hunts
Scavenger hunts help kids develop the skills of observation, curiosity, and letter recognition. Scavenger hunts and pencils are available at the Youth Desk.
Coloring
Coloring is a great way to practice fine motor skills, creativity, and color recognition. The Youth Area contains both a paper covered coloring table and coloring pages available at the Youth Desk.Books
Caitlin Benson Collection
The Caitlin Benson Collection of books encourages children to respect differences and appreciate similarities in themselves and others through reading.
Board Books
Sturdy board books designed for our youngest readers are located in the Board Book area and are available for check-out.
Beginning Readers
Beginning Reader books are designed with simple language and corresponding illustrations to help children build reading skills. Our Beginning Readers have colored tape on the spine so the suggested reading level can easily be determined.
MAX
MAX is a countywide book sharing service between the public libraries in Maricopa County. Books requested through MAX are checked out and returned at the Tempe Public Library.
